R.I.P. Connie Karlson...

Early last year, Connie, a former co-worker, discovered that she had some wrong with her lungs, both of them. 6 months ago or so, she was forced to resign due to her condition deteriorating and she was planning to go to Sweden ( her husband is Swedish ) to have better chances to find a donor for a transplant. Few weeks ago, she was considered too weak to travel. Last Sunday, she was in a hospital in Hong Kong. Her condition was deteriorating way too fast. During the night, there was further complications. On Monday, she had to have a tub inserted for breathing support. She couldn't eat anymore, couldn't breath by herself. During the day, she developped a fever. She died during the night, last night. Connie, from where you are, Thank you for all the things you taught me when we worked together. Rest in Peace...

En début d'année dernière, Connie, une ancienne copine de boulot, a découvert une anomalie dans ses poumons lors d'un banal contrôle de santé de routine. Il y a 6 mois, elle a dû démissionné de son poste parceque sa situation s'aggravait et elle envisageait de partir en Suède ( son mari est suédois ) pour avoir plus de chances de trouver un donneur. Il y a quelques temps, elle était jugé trop faible pour le voyage. Dimanche, elle était dans un hopital de Hong Kong. Sa situation se dégradait trop vite. Durant la nuit, il y a eu des complications. Lundi, on a dû lui insérer un tube car elle ne pouvait plus respirer par elle-même. Elle ne pouvait plus manger. Dans la journée, elle a attrappé une fièvre. Elle s'est éteinte cette nuit. Connie, Merci pour toutes les choses que tu m'as apprises pendant le temps où nous avons travaillé ensemble. Repose en paix...

I know, I know, you have a feeling of "déjà vu" with this recent drawing. But it was not that big. Thanks to the new format of my blog, I can post bigger size pictures from now one. Isn't it cool? And this drawing in bigger format was a special request! So, here I go!

Je sais, je sais, vous avez une affreuse sensation de "déjà vu" en voyant ce dessin! Mais il n'était pas si grand. Grâce au nouveau format de mon blog, je vais pouvoir poster des images plus grandes. C'est cool, non? Et ce dessin en plus grand, c'est une demande spéciale! Donc, voilà, ça y est, je l'ai fait!

Rétro...

I had a lot of fun doing this one. It started as a tiny tiny ridiculous something in the corner of a piece of paper, as a way to vent out of the current drawings I am doing, and then, after I enlarged it ( with the photocopy machine ) I cleaned it. I then added the circle in photoshop. I would like to put it in colors, those old 50's style colors. Let's see if I can make it happen!

J'ai eu beaucoup de fun à faire ce dessin. Ça a commencé par un tout petit petit crobard de rien du tout dans un coin de feuille blanche ( une technique utilisée par J.Scott Campbell ), comme un échappatoire aux dessins que je fais pour le boulot en ce moment. Après l'avoir agrandi à la photocopieuse, je l'ai tracé. ensuite, le cercle à été ajouté à l'ordinateur avec photoshop. Si j'ai du temps, j'aimerai le mettre en couleurs dans un style Rétro-Années 5o. On verra bien!

TeacherBusters...

Going down memory lane, here are 2 characters that my cousin and I created wayyyy long time ago when we were young ( around the time the GhostBusters movie came out! ). They are the TeacherBusters ( Yeah, couldn't have been more original! And I don't even mention about their names and surnames... but, hey... we were young! ). I was never able to finish, or really start a story with those characters... Wait it is wrong! I think I did start one story... and finished another one! Anyway, those two were kinda fun to draw and from time to time, out of nowhere, they pop up!... like now! So, yes, if I was drawing an adventure with them today, they would look like this!

Encore un de ces petits souvenirs coincés dans ma tête! Voici les TeacherBusters ( je sais, le nom ne pourrait pas être plus original! Et je vous épargne les noms et prénoms... Faut nous comprendre, nous étions jeunes...), deux personnages que mon cousin et moi avons créé il y a trèèès longtemps, au moment de la sortie de... SOS Fantômes... (très bien, je vois que tout le monde suit! ). Le truc, c'est que je n'ai jamais pu commencer ou finir une histoire correctement avec ces deux-là!... Stop!... C'est faux! Je me souviens avoir au moins commencé une aventure ... et fini une autre! Passons, ces deux personnages étaient sympas à dessiner et de temps en temps, ils sortent de nul part... comme maintenant! Oui, si je les dessinais aujourd'hui, ce serait sûrement comme ça!

Pistolets laser, films en N&B à épisodes à suspense comme dans les années 30, " The Mercury Men" est très prometteur. Je ne sais pas si ce sera gratuit à voir, mais la bande-annonce de cette série faite pour le web l'est... donc amenez le pop-corn, éteignez la lumière de la salle... Yes, I am. Remember that post below about the space girl?... I have had some nice comments about it. Some saying that she was not so sexy or scary. I suggested to do an almost naked with big boobs and big gun spacegirl. And someone said that " I got it! ". So, here is the latest space girl. That's a change compared to what I draw at the office! Enjoy!

Si, si, je suis joueur... Vous vous souvenez de mon billet sur la fille de l'espace?... J'ai eu de gentils commentaires en retour. Certains ont dit qu'elle n'était pas sexy ou qu'elle ne faisait pas particulièrement peur. Ce a quoi, j'ai répondu qu'il faut que je dessine une fille très dénudée, avec une forte poitrine et un très gros flingue. Et comme la réponse fût: " T'as tout compris!". Ben voilà le résultat! Ça me change de ce que je dessine à la boite!

Interlude...

You are in a meeting. You just finished to do your pitch for a project. And suddenly you feel really bored because, as usual, they switch to Cantonese with no subtitles... And this little corner of white paper is just waiting for you. And there is that pencil calling you just next to it! Way too much temptation! And here is the result! Yes, the pitch involved a dragon, but not this one!

Vous êtes coincé dans une réunion. Vous venez juste de finir votre présentation pour un projet. Et tout d'un coup, vous commencez sérieusement à vous emm.... embêter par ce que comme d'habitude ils se sont mis à parler en cantonais. Ce petit coin de feuille blanche vous attire et... Oooh... vous avez aussi un crayon qui traîne juste à côté. L'occasion est trop belle... Et voilà le résultat! Oui, ma présentation impliquait un dragon, mais pas celui-là!

Voici une bande-annonce ( seulement en anglais, désolé! ) d'un film amateur qui sera visible sur intenet dans quelques petits jours. Ce qui est intéressant, c'est que la qualité semble être au rendez-vous. Donc si vous êtes un fan de l'Univers du Seigneur des Anneaux ou si vous vous intéressez à l'univers de la cinématographie en amateur, je pense que vous ce sera pour vous... 2 dinos...er... dragons...

Almost 40 years old and I already feel like a dinosaur. All that because of a conversation I had tonight with a friend after work. I am one of the oldest in my designing team at the office. They all know how to use the drawing software very well... me, no so much. They are fast at it... me, not so much. But give me a pencil and a paper, and I can beat them anytime. I can create something more dynamic in no time... And this is why, when speaking about it tonight, around a beer (really unusual for the middle of the week! ), we felt like dinosaurs...(Updated... and then it suddenly hit me: I drew dragons instead of dinosaurs!! Can we say it is because of the beer? ).

Presque 40 ans ( mais chuis pas à la bourre, hein! ) et je me sens déjà vieux comme un dinosaure. Tout ça à cause d'une conversation que j'ai eu avec un copain ce soir après le boulot. Je suis un des plus vieux parmi les graphistes de mon équipe à la boite. Ils savent tous maitriser les différents logiciels de dessin... moi, pas trop. Ils sont super-rapides à ça... moi, pas aussi vite. Mais donnez-moi un crayon et un papier et je vous fais un truc plus dynamique que eux en un rien de temps... et c'est pour ça que ce soir, parlant de tout ça autour d'une bière ( inhabituel pour un milieu de semaine! ), on s'est senti vieux comme des dinosaures... (Annonce... et tout d'un coup, ça m'a sauté aux yeux, tel un léopard sur sa proie: j'ai dessiné des dragons à la place des dinosaures!! Est-ce qu'on peut dire que c'est à cause de la bière?).
